5 Essential Nu-Disco Classics

The term Disco gets thrown around alot these days and there has been a massive emphasis on reworking the obvious records from the 1970's. Whilst during the 90's so many original disco records got sampled and many hit records were produced during this era such as Todd Terry Jumpin or Armand Van Helden's You Dont Know Me or even the loop crazy anthem from Gusto and his dancefloor anthem Disco's Revenge to name but a few.

However there was also an emerging side scene going off during the 90's which became much more popular during the 2000's. The term Nu-Disco became synonymous with bands like Crazy P and labels such as Winding Road Records. Also during this era alot of French labels and artists began to rise and labels such as Ed Banger records which became widely popular with a more edgy sound but nevertheless a Nu-Disco ethos was its backdrop.

Over the last decade or so the re-edits scene has been flourishing and is now somewhat saturated with many versions of the same track floating around. This is due to the advancement of software being available where it is now possible to split vocals from the backing track. Whilst this is revolutionary for producers to be able to get hold of original stems, it is also a curse as it means that anyone can do the same remix now of an old track. So digging deep is getting harder.

However Nu-Disco continues to rise and create a variety of off shoots and different sub genres and forms. So below for those of you who are just stepping into this arena or are wanting to be reminded of a few classics, here below are 5 essential tracks from the Nu-Disco genre as selected by RobJamWeb.
